2.7-liter Turbo High-Output vs. 5.3-liter V8

Engine Output: The standard 2.7-liter Turbo High-Output engine provides 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, plenty of muscle for your drive to work. The 5.3-liter V8 is a muscular option, offering 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. While the 2.7-liter engine delivers more pound-feet of torque, the V8 will hit a higher speed with more horsepower.

Fuel Economy: When you’re cruising down the road, considering what kind of gas mileage you get from your full-size pickup truck can make the difference in what model you need. The 2.7-liter Turbo High-Output engine enjoys an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 19/22 mpg. If you choose the 5.3-liter V8, you’ll receive an EPA-estimated 16/21 mpg. When you need better overall performance, especially in the city, the 2.7-liter Turbo engine will work well for you.

Maximum Towing Capacity: Looking to haul supplies or equipment to the worksite? The GMC Sierra 1500’s 2.7-liter engine offers a maximum trailering capacity of up to 9,400 pounds. If you need a beefier towing option, the 5.3-liter V8 tows up to 11,200 pounds.
